PAPER WORLD
PAPER WORLD
Inspired by a two part prompt by the Rhode Island School of Design, this piece begins at a still. As the third piece in a paper concentration and exploration, Paperworld is a singular sheet of paper, wetted, twisted, and folded into the shape of a small planet, including trees, shrubs, a stream, boulders, and a deer. Molded and dried using water, the paper stuck to itself by the tiny amount of adhesive left over from its making. The planet was then placed over a wooden sundial. With the sunlight, the planet of paper spun in the wind as day went by.

BURNING
As part two, the little planet was placed in high sunlight, and lit aflame. For a short while, the paper burst into life, the dear hissing as it fell to the ground, the trees crackling, and the river drying to a crisp black. the little planet, after its short breath of life, then fell, blackened and ashen to the ground, before disappearing altogether.

AFTERMATH
The result was that the little paper world had disappeared, leaving nothing but scorch marks in the sundial below, much like how humanity's short time here will eventually become a sedimentary layer; A blip in time that continues.
